The following are the immigration marriage interview questions you will be asked if you didn”t do a good job documenting your relationship, after each of you are separated and sworn to tell the truth:

  1. Where do you live?
  2. When did you start living together?
  3. How many times have you been married? Your spouse?
  4. How many children do you have? What are their names? How old are they? Where do they live?  Same questions for your spouse
  5. Have you met your spouse’s children?  Has she met your children?
  6. When is the last time you saw them?  When is the last time your spouse saw your children?
  7. What school do they go to?
  8. Who are your parents? Where do they live? Do you know them? Same question for your spouse.
  9. Who are your siblings?  Where do they live? What about your spouse’s siblings? Do you know them?
  10. Who is your best friend? Your spouse’s best friend?
  11. Where do your work?  Where is it located? How do you get there?  What are your work hours?  How much do you make? Same questions regarding your spouse’s work.
  12. How many rooms does your house or apartment have?
  13. How much is the rent?
  14. Who pays the bills? How are they paid (cash, check, etc.)
  15. What bills do the two of you have?
  16. Who lives in your house/apartment?
  17. How many rooms are there?
  18. What color is the blanket on the bed?
  19. Is there a clock in the room? Where?
  20. What is covering the windows in the apartment/house? What color are the blinds or curtain?
  21. Who wakes up first in the morning?
  22. What did the two of you eat for breakfast today?  Who prepared it?
  23. What did the two of you eat for dinner last night?
  24. When is the last time you went out as a couple?  Where did you go?  Who did you go with?
  25. What is the last gift you gave your spouse?  Your spouse gave to you?  When was it?
  26. When and where did the two of you meet?
  27. When did you start to go out as a couple?
  28. Who proposed marriage? When? Where?
  29. Who bought the rings? Where?
  30. Where was the wedding? The reception?
  31. Who was at your wedding? Who were the witnesses?
  32. How much did the wedding cost?
  33. Do the two of you have bank accounts?  With what bank?

The best way to avoid this uncomfortable process is to document your relationship thoroughly.  Even if you didn’t document the relationship when you initially filed, you can either supplement your application or go to the interview with updated documents.  Don’t take any chances.  This will not be a pleasant experience, particularly if you aren’t prepared.
