What is love? Oh baby, don’t hurt me Don’t hurt me, No more

This song by Haddaway, was one of my favorites when I first moved to Israel. It spoke to me at a vulnerable part of my life. I just left everything, including my girlfriend, and I moved to Israel. I didn’t have anyone. I didn’t have a job. I didn’t even speak the language. But trance music was alive and well, and Tel-Aviv had some great clubs. Life was simpler then for me.

Although this song takes me back to those days, the song could equally be about physical or emotional abuse. Baby don’t hurt me, no more… No one should have to stay in an abusive relationship only to achieve legal status. VAWA and U-visa were created to protect victims of domestic violence and other crimes. If you are in an abusive relationship, you should get help right away. If you need to speak to someone, you can call the Domestic Violence Hotline 24/7 at 800-799-7233. If you are afraid for your life, contact or go to the police right away.

Both VAWA and U-visa can protect you and your family by helping you get legal status. You may not know it, but your partner or spouse may have been victims of domestic violence before meeting you. I know it’s a painful subject, but maybe something good can come out of the bad.

If you are not sure, ask them.

We have created lots of material on VAWA and U-visa. Click on VAWA or U-visa links see or videos on those options. Please share them with anyone you think might benefit from the information.

If you want to discuss a U-visa or VAWA application, you can call 732-962-6233 or click to schedule an appointment with my team.
