Do illegal immigrants pay taxes?

///Do illegal immigrants pay taxes?
Undocumented Immigrants (illegals) do pay taxes. One of the biggest myths regarding immigration is that undocumented immigrants do not have to pay taxes.  This is absolutely false, though the amount of taxes that are paid vary from case to case. First off, every time anyone makes a purchase at a store in America, they pay a sales tax (with the exception of Alaska, Montana, New Hampshire, Delaware, and Oregon). Further, a study has found that 8.1 million of the estimated 11.4 million undocumented immigrants in the United States still pay income taxes when they work and these taxes amount to approximately 11.8 billion dollars. Many pay income taxes twice, first deducted from their pay check using a social security number not their own, and a second using an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) provided by the IRS.  If they own homes, they pay real estate taxes.  If they rent, the landlord pays the real estate taxes thanks to their rent.Immigrants whether undocumented or otherwise, pay many of the same taxes as other Americans while not receiving any of the benefits. For example, unemployment benefits, social security disability, or even Obamacare subsidies for insurance.  Immigrants, however, do get benefits for their U.S. citizen children.  Here is yet another reason why immigration reform is needed.  Their children born in the U.S. can apply for a means tested benefit, like insurance or food subsidies.  The parents must apply and state their income.  Since most are undocumented and can’t verify their income it is very easy for them to qualify.  If they had work authorization, many less children would receive those benefits.  Also, with work authorization many would get insurance coverage and be less dependent on hospital emergency rooms for routine care.
