DUI Classes FAQ

How many hours of DUI classes will I have to take?

For DUI classes, plan on at least 12 hours, usually two 6 hour sessions, but it can be as high as 48 hours.

What will happen if I do not complete the DUI classes or public service ordered by the Court?

You will likely go to jail.

Can the Intoxicated Drivers Resource Program make me take any additional classes or order additional counseling?

Yes. As part of your sentence, you have to satisfy the screening, evaluation, referral, program and fee requirements of the Division of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse’s Intoxicated Driving Program Unit, and of the Intoxicated Driver Resource Centers and a program of alcohol and drug education and highway safety, as prescribed by the Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles.

What happens if I do not comply with the IDRC classes or additional recommendations for counseling?

The court will sentence you to a county jail.  You will also lose your license or continue your suspension until the requirements are satisfied.
