Do you need a Corona test!?

Thursday morning, my son, Marcel, wasn’t feeling well. Marcel is always full of energy, and he never stops moving. So for him to want to stay in bed was unusual. I took him to the doctor, who said he had a virus and could go back to school if he didn’t have a fever. The next day he went to school with a doctor’s note. All good, right?

You would think, but the nurse told me he needed a negative Corona test. Why did I ask? Because he has one Corona symptom, fatigue. I asked her to list the symptoms; well, it covers everything. So basically, if your child has anything, you need a negative Corona test before he returns to school. That isn’t the school’s written policy, but it is the one they are applying.

I am in favor of vaccines. I understand the mask policy; I follow it even if I don’t like it. But there is a difference between blind adherence and a simple application of rules and regulations.

I see the same thing in immigration. The “unwritten rules” you can only learn through experience. And only if you work hard to understand why one application is approved and another denied. Immigration has too many officers like the nurse who apply “unwritten rules.” Immigration is complicated, and it requires more than just blind adherence to rules you don’t try to understand. You need to figure out the pitfalls and plan around them. So, if you won’t take the time to figure out the unwritten rules, find someone who already has.
