Millions of people immigrate to the United States in hopes of a better life for themselves and their families in…
What promises were made?
During the Democratic Presidential Debate that was held on Wednesday, March 9th, both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton made a promise that they would completely end the deportation of Children or Immigrants without criminal records. Bernie Sanders gave a much more direct answer when he stated, I will not deport children, and later stated that he would not deport immigrants with no criminal record. Hillary Clinton took a bit more convincing, but she made the same promises, and these promises are an amazing step forward for undocumented children in the United States.
Why would this be difficult to trust?
A lot of people are wondering whether or not these promises can be trusted, and this is a very interesting question. Obviously we would love to be able to trust these promises, but it would be very difficult to keep these promises. Our nation is on a path right now where we are deporting the largest amount of immigrants in the history of the country, and it is going to be hard to stop this;quickly. Why? Because it means changes to the regulations for the Customs Border Patrol, US Citizenship Immigration services, Department of Homeland Security, and Immigration Customs Enforcement. That takes time to do.
What is you part?
One of the biggest problems that we face with regards to politics is the fact that we do not hold our politicians accountable. We have politicians that make a large number of promises during their campaigns, and then seem to forget that they made those promises when they get into office. It is our job as voters and as citizens of the United States to hold these politicians accountable, and make sure that they keep their promises. If you are not a citizen and are not able to vote, you should pursue the path to legal citizenship. This will help make sure that you can vote, and that you can be viewed as a concerned citizen rather than a concerned immigrant.
So how do you become a legal resident?
Not everyone is eligible for legal status, but we would like to help you determine if you are. On the left hand side of the screen you will see a section called offers. In that section there is a free questionnaire that will help you determine if you are eligible for legal status. If you are eligible, we urge you to call us and allow us to help you on that path. If you are not eligible however, we still have many programs that can be used to make sure that you are protected. We urge you to take advantage of these programs, as they could go a long way in ensuring that you are able to remain in this country.
What is the Safe Program?
The first program we offer is our SAFE program. The purpose of this program is to minimize your chances of being arrested for any crime or immigration violation. We create an ID card that you can keep with you at all times and present if confronted with law enforcement officer, whether immigration or the police. All you have to do is present the card to the officer and inform them that you will not answer any questions without your lawyer present. The goal is to prevent you from innocently admitting information that law enforcement can use to arrest you. On the back of the ID card is a list of your constitutional rights, as well as 24/7 phone number that is manned by an answering service. When you purchase this package you also receive a FREE 30-minute consultation with one of our staff members every year for as long as you are a member of the program. That we can evaluate if your options have changed.
What is the Secure Program?
We also have a program called the SECURE program, which applies specifically if you are detained by immigration. The identity card won’t keep you from being arrested if you already have an order of arrest or an order of deportation. However, the Secure program will greatly improve your chances of getting out of detention quickly, efficiently, and cost effectively. When you are first detained by immigration, your family normally would need to scramble to find you an attorney. Then your attorney will need to be multiple trips to visit you in jail to fill out paperwork, sign forms, and figure out the best strategy to getting you out of detention. What our SECURE program does, is make sure that all of that is taken care of before your arrest. Because you aren’t arrested, we also have the time to do a thorough background check and attempt to fix any issues that can get you into trouble with law enforcement. Here is what you with the Secure program:
- A thorough immigration analysis laying our your options,
- The Safe identity program for two years,
- A free consultation every year for two years to see if your options have changed and to make sure we have the most up to date information for you,
- Preparation for Deferred Action that way once it is implemented you will be ready to file quickly to achieve legal status,
- Criminal background analysis to see if you have outstanding issues that can result in your detention,
- Immigration Background analysis to determine if you have any impediment to achieving legal status and maximizing your ability to get out of immigration detention,
