Republicans to support immigration reform in 2014?

Are Republicans interested in immigration reform in 2014?

I will believe it when I see it.  I can understand that they don’t want to be perceived as against immigration reform before the elections and I certainly hope this effort is more than just lip service.  There are supposed to be four bills announced, but none with a path to citizenship.

  1. path to legalization – requiring immigrants learn English , civics, pay taxes, and pay a fine
  2. DREAMers – legalizing children brought without permission
  3. Tracking foreign nationals and visas for low skilled workers
  4. House already passed high-skilled worker and border security bills.

The Republicans have released their Standards for Immigration Reform, you can see them by clicking here.  It remains to be seen how serious Republicans are in this effort.
