America was born and raised in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico. As a child in Mexico, she was fortunate to have attended private schools where she learned strong educational and ethical values that remain with her today, and which motivated her to work to help others. From Mexico, her family moved to the United States and settled in Toms River, N.J. America attended Toms River High School, struggling every day to learn a new language and culture.
Once she arrived in the U.S., she and her family were committed to learning everything they could to survive and thrive here. America’s family purposely moved to a community with only English speakers. Her mother got a job at Dunkin’ Donuts, and within a year was promoted to a managerial position. Her father, who always worked from home, joined different study groups at the Ocean County library, not only to learn English but also to get to know the community and make new friends. America and her brother joined sports teams and clubs at school to interact with their peers.
It was not easy task, but with strong family support and new friends, America successfully completed both her high school and college education in the U.S.
Today, she is proud to work at Andres Mejer Law Firm as the Front Office Supervisor. She is delighted to help others facing the same challenges that her family did.
